Elkin High School

Elkin High School is a grade nine through twelve school. The campus is located in a residential neighborhood of Elkin, found in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina. Winston Salem is a forty-five minute drive to the east, Charlotte is an hour and a half to the south and Boone is forty-five minutes to the west. Interstate 77 runs close to Elkin and provides two exits (numbers 82 and 83) giving easy access to the town.

For the past 65 years, Elkin High School has provided a superior education for the people of Elkin and the surrounding community.

Elkin, North Carolina

The city of Elkin is located in the corner of Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin counties, and serves citizens from all three. An excellent Recreation Department, along with the Foothills Arts Council, joins with the schools in providing cultural and outdoor activities and experiences for citizens from the area. Churches, civic organizations, medical facilities, and a broad range of businesses and industries thrive in Elkin and provide strong support to the schools.

Mission Statement

Elkin High School, in partnership with the families and the community, will provide excellent educational opportunities for all students as we develop the whole child. 
 

We believe that:

  • All students have intrinsic worth.
  • All students have the right to a safe and courteous learning environment.
  • All students can learn through diverse educational experiences.
  • The school environment must be nurturing and supportive.
  • High expectations and achievement benchmarks result in improved performance.
  • Positive parental and community involvement are necessary for optimum student learning.
  • All faculty and staff must act as positive role models for students.
  • All students should become responsible, informed, and active citizens.
  • All individuals must be treated fairly without regard to race, sex, color, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.
  • All staff members must grow professionally to assist in student learning.
